Born on July 28, 1960 in Brotas, São Paulo - Brazil, José Henrique dos Reis started his musical career in 1980, when he created a sertanejo duo with Daniel, called João Paulo & Daniel. They had success early in 1991, and their peak was in 1996 with the release of the song "Estou Apaixonado". The last studio album released by João Paulo & Daniel in 1997 received triple platinum (750,000 copies) in Brazil and is the most successful album of the duo. João Paulo composed some songs for the duo and also for other artists. On September 12, 1997, João Paulo died in an automobile accident.
