The JoJo Swingband was a formation assembled by Dutch jazz artist Joep Peeters in the early 80s, after plenty of jam sessions at the then popular jazz café "Thijs van der Molen" in the city of Breda, The Netherlands. The owner of the café, Thijs van der Molen also a sang in the band Oh Sixteen Oh Seven. The band, in the original form, consisted of the following band members: Joep Peeters: alto sax, vibraphone, vocals, band leader Joop Hendriks: tenor sax Harry Kanters: piano, vocals Peter Kanters: guitar, vocals John Rijnen: contrabass Jan-Willem van Zwol: drums The name "JoJo" Swingband is based on the first names of the two front men of the band, Joep Peeters and Joop Hendriks. The JoJo Swingband has performed all over The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and later on even in the U.S.A. Tenor sax player Joop Hendriks died in 1987 and was replaced by Sieg Pfeffer on tenor sax and clarinet. Due to an injury, drummer Jan-Willem van Zwol was later on replaced by drummer Onno de Bruijn.
