In 2001 he co-founded Instinct Africaine label, since then working primarily as a composer for films and commercials and as a sound engineer at his recording studio, Joe's Garage, Johannesburg. Is often credited as JB Arthur or J.B. Arthur for producing and engineering, but as Joe Arthur for vocal work. (Sometimes, both name variations appear on the same release.)
