A member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Liles is also composer and arranger of music for religious and popular groups, as well as barbershop quartet and chorus singers. His barbershop catalog contains hundreds of original compositions and arrangements. Liles is listed in the International Who’s Who in Music, received the 1999 MENC: National Association for Music Education award for his work in promoting music education. He is a life member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and an honorary life member of Sweet Adelines International. In summer of 2007, Liles was inducted into the Barbershop Harmony Society Hall of Fame. Members are chosen for exceptional contributions to barbershop harmony and/or the Barbershop Harmony Society. Liles joined the Barbershop Harmony Society in 1967 and directed the San Antonio, Texas, chorus to the international medalist level in 1971 and '72 in the Society’s competition. He currently sings lead in Harmony, the 2001 international senior quartet champion. He directs the Sweet Adelines International’s Spirit of the Lakes Chorus in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Liles has been a certified Arrangement category judge, is now serving in the Singing category and has taught chorus directing and chorus rehearsal techniques at district and international schools. He has coached quartets and choruses throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Sweden. Liles is a graduate of Baylor University and holds a master of music degree from Southern (Louisville) Seminary. He has completed 30 hours of doctoral work in conducting at the University of Texas
