A.k.a. Joseph Maniscalco Jr Joey Manners
Joseph Maniscalco Jr. hailed from a musically inclined Northwestern Massachusetts family. In his teens during the late 50s, he accompanied his crooner father Joseph Maniscalso Sr. (also known by the stage name Perry Martin) on several instruments. In addition, Joe lead at least two local bands: The Springfield Teen Rockers and The Etiquette's using the stage name Joey Manners. He was a long time featured player on WHYN's Dance Party and made a tour of US Air Force Bases with his band. In the Fall of '59, Joe and his family headed West to Hollywood to persue a recording career. Joe successfully landed a contract with Specialty Record Co. where he wrote a holiday novelty song that both he and a then unknown Sonny Bono recorded versions of titled "Comin' Down the Chimney". Joe went on to record a number of songs with Specialty's Venice Music as well as Jack Bee (later Downey) records. Some of his tracks are "Yea Yea Yea" which he recorded on his own, as well as "Frenzy" and "Theme of Etiquette" which he wrote, produced, and performed with a band called the Hindu's. Joe continued writing, producing, performing, and recording music both as a solo artist and with his wife and daughters throughout his life.
