Johann Bach (baptized 26 November 1604 in Wechmar; buried on 13 May 1673 in Erfurt), actually Johannes Bach, not to be confused with the similarly Johann Bach (1621-1686) mentioned musician and pastor (the founder of Lehnstedter line of the Bach family ), is the earliest credited composer of the Bach family. He is considered to be the founder of the Erfurt branch of the family and was a great-uncle of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was the eldest son of Johnn Bach, brother of Christopher, and of Heinrich Bach.
