Born in 1940, an Australian jazz critic, writer, poet & performer. Author of "Bodgie Dada & The Cult Of The Cool - Australian Jazz Since 1945", a memoir "Low Rent", "Why Wangaratta?: Ten Years Of The Wangaratta Festival of Jazz" and a short story collection "Take Me Higher". He was the Sydney Morning Heralds jazz critic writing as Gail Brennan (& was asked to be included in the Who's Who Of Australian Women"). He also wrote for the National Times, Nation Review, Independent Monthly, The Age, The Bulletin, Town magazine. He edited the Music Maker magazine, was music editor of HiFi & Music. He was a member of the avant rock band Witness Of The Third Coming and the free improvisation jazz group Free Kata.
