Musician of Jazz
New Zealand drummer and percussionist. Profile from A Labour Of Love: John hails from Dunedin, where he played drums in various Radio bands and backed touring artists. He was responsible for (or guilty of) launching Dick Hopp into notoriety by selling him the idea of a Herbie Mann type trio, which was duly recorded by N.Z.B.C. and was the binding force behind the Blue Note Quartet. In 1972 he joined Dick to take the driver's seat in Borkum Riff. He is rated one of the finest Boss Nova [sic] drummers in New Zealand.
