A.k.a. Crut
With humble origins of creating homemade tapes, John Book began with a need to hear himself. He did. In 1992 he started the "experiment in the works" known as Crut, his primary outlet for music. He has released 20 albums under the Crut name. John Book was born in 1970 in Los Angeles, California, but raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i which he considers home. He currently resides in Washington State, with plans to move to Portland, Oregon. Book is also a music journalist, appearing in publications such as "Goldmine", "The Rocket", "Discoveries", "Reflex", and "Disc Respect". He published his own fanzine, "Intensity", and was one of the original contributing editors to the first edition of the "All Music Guide". On the internet, Book was the founder of the Unofficial Wu-Tang Clan Mailing List (U-WU) in 1995, and the webmaster of the first ever page for producer Prince Paul, called Page Phor Prince Paul, and the man behind Ozoland, a fan site for the L.A. Latin/hip-hop band Ozomatli. His current output can be found on his website at thisisbooksmusic.com. Book brings his 20+ years of record collecting expertise to everything he does.
