Brass and Soundtrack
Born in England in 1885, hew was a court musician for Queen Victoria, and played music across England and Europe before emigrating to Australia. When WWI broke out, he joined the Australian Light Horse and he was asked to form Australia's first military band. After the war he formed the New South Wales Police Band, which played at the establishment of Canberra and at the 1938 Empire Games. He was also a teacher of clarinet and bass at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He died in 1980, aged 95.
