John Frankenheimer (born February 19, 1930, Queens, New York, USA - died July 6, 2002, Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American film director. His career in films began whilst serving in the military in the early 1950's. In 1955 he moved to Hollywood and began his directing career in live television at CBS. His first theatrical film was The Young Stranger (1957). He went onto direct many notable films.
