Musician of Classical, Rock and World
Percussionist John Hadfield is on the Jazz faculty of New York University, where he teaches drum set and the World Percussion Ensemble. He has performed with a broad range of artists including Yo-Yo Ma, The Silk Road Ensemble, Saturday Night Live Band, Bang on a Can, HUGO, The HUM Ensemble, Kenny Werner’s Chant, Deep Purple, Kinan Azmeh and Elastic City, Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars, Daniel Hope, Ethos Percussion Group and Gamelan Dharma Swara, as well as jazz musicians Lenny Pickett, George Garzone, Paquito D’Rivera, Billy Drewes, Jean-Michel Pilc, Gil Goldstein, Bobby Watson, Greg Osby, James Genus, Michael Wolff, Satoshi Takeshi, Brad Shepik, Gilad Hekselman, Mike Richmond, François Rabbath, Petros Klampanis and Erik Friedlander. Hadfield has released two records of his own compositions, mainly written for percussion instruments and electronics but also including guitar, harp, violin and cello, and has collaborated on more than 80 recordings as a guest artist
