Musician of Jazz and World
American player and builder of the shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute). He is known particularly for his use of the instrument in non-traditional contexts, such as jazz and cross-cultural music. He is acknowledged worldwide as one of the most gifted composers and performers of shakuhachi music and has created a unique synthesis of shakuhachi and American jazz fusion.
