A.k.a. John Maynard La Montaine
(March 17, 1920 – April 29, 2013) Pulitzer Prize winning composer; Distinguished career having been pianist and celestist with the NBC Symphony under Arturo Toscanini. Studied under Max Landow and Ralph Ganz. Was awarded commissions from the Ford Foundation and the Koussevitzky Foundation. In 1962 he was invited to act as Composer-in-Residence at the American Academy in Rome and has served as visiting professor of composition at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Utah.
