Fiddler in Texas He was born in Jacksonville, TX and grew up in Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Rockwall. He graduated from Rockwall High School with the Class of 1984. John continued his education at Baylor University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He played violin in the Baylor Orchestra and with the Waco Symphony. After graduating from Baylor, Mr. Layton taught music for Waco I.S.D. before moving to Nashville, TN to pursue his dream as a Country Music artist. He loved music and excelled at guitar and violin (which became the fiddle in Nashville). John played on music tours with such artists as Mark Chesnutt, Collin Ray, David Ball, Gary Allen, and Paulette Carlson as well as others while pursuing his music career. Mr. Layton passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, in an automobile accident in Ellis County.
