John Masouri is a UK journalist specialising in black music, with particular emphasis on reggae and dancehall. Over the past thirty years he’s interviewed and written about many of the genre’s most influential and well-known figures, chiefly for Echoes Magazine (UK), Riddim (Germany) and Reggae Vibes (France.) He’s also written for Mojo, Music Week, the Guardian, Observer and NME, as well as publications in the Caribbean, US, Japan, Italy and Holland. He's a frequent contributor to regional BBC stations, and has appeared in a number of film, radio and television documentaries. Apart from having written liner notes for many reggae, jazz and funk albums, he’s also the author of several books on reggae including Simmer Down: The Early Wailers’ Story; The Guinness Encyclopedia Of Reggae; Steppin’ Razor: The Life Of Peter Tosh and an authorised biography of the Wailers called Wailing Blues: The Story of Bob Marley's Wailers, which Roger Steffens described as “the best book ever written on Bob Marley” and "a fan's dream come true."
