English political philosopher born on 17th April 1948 in Sheffield, England. Gray held positions at the University of Essex, Jesus College, Oxford and at the University of Oxford as a lecturer and professor. He also served as a visiting professor atHarvard University (1985–86), Bowling Green State University (1990–1994), Tulane University’s Murphy Institute (1991) and Yale University (1994) and also was a Stranahan Fellow at the Social Philosophy and Policy Center. Gray also held the position of Professor of European Thought at London School of Economics until retiring to write full time in 2008.
