Album US 2016 on F of X Records label
Electronic and Rock (Dark Ambient, Alternative Rock, Abstract)
I had the foresight in 2005 to try to take some of the songs I mixed on 24 track tape and dump them to a digital format. I figured at one point in the future I could maybe re-mix these pieces and make them sound a little more contemporary. In 2014, 24 track machines are hard to come by so, my intuition paid off. Here is one of those remixed songs recorded originally in 1990. That first mix is on the CD "Life Here...It's Anybody's Guess". This new one features the voice more upfront and an actual bass track that mix one was kind of missing. Mix one however was remastered by Bob Ball many years ago and yes, he managed to get a bigger sound stage that I could not replicate. On the bright side, this re-mix did allowed me to get the talented Rufolo brothers to have fun and put their musical stamp on it. For that I am grateful. Check out their music on bandcamp : The Brothers Nylon or Ranikade3. Smokey Lee Webster Wrestles Wid "IT" is clearly the most accessible song I've ever recorded and since it's kind of Sci-Fi I figured it fit right along here on this EP. The horror on one of my housemates face as she came down to the studio while I was diligently mixing this piece was priceless. She wanted me committed. After being in the music biz for twenty eight years with no real commercial success, perhaps she was right! -JT Produced, Recorded, Performed, Compiled by John Tabacco Speak With A Voice (And A Motive Too) John Tabacco : Vocal, Acoustic guitar, FX, Bass Nick DiMauro : Drum programming, Keyboard, "Don't Take The Horses", Recording engineer Jim Dexter : Electric guitar, Guitar FX,"Don't Take The Horses" Originally recorded and mixed by Nick DiMauro at Modern Voice Studio, Centerport, NY in 1991 Re-mixed and added Bass at Suburban Hermit Studios II, Stony Brook, NY in 2014 Speak With A Voice (The Rufolo Variations) Remix and added percussion : Mike Rufolo Bass : Nick Rufolo John Tabacco : Various Smokey Lee Webster Wrestles Wid "IT" Gian DiMauro : Gut wrenching vocalizations Jim Dexter : Alien Steinberger Guitar (with graphite neck) John Tabacco : Extensive editing Guitar : Recorded at Modern Voices Studios, Centerport, NY Vocalizations recorded at Sonic Underground Studios, Stony Brook, NY Android Warehouse Words and Music © 1970 by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen UNIVERSAL-MCA MUSIC PUBLISHING DIV.
