As Essau, He Recorded For The Melron Label In 1961. After Melron, Essau Signed With Swan Records Which Resulted In One Single, 'Poison Pen'., Released Under The Mis-spelled Name Of Esau Isaac. A Few Years Later, Essau's Luck Changed When He Signed With Morris Bailey And Leon Mitchell Who Renamed Him Johnny Newbag. He Recorded 2 Uptempo Mid-Sixties Soul Records 'Little Samson' And 'Got To Get You Back'. By The Later Part Of The 1960's And Early 70's, Johnny Released A Few More Records Under The Essau Name Before Moving Back To His Home State Of South Carolina.
