Compil. US 2011 on Hit+Run label
Electronic and Hip-Hop/Rap (Trip Hop, Bass Music, Instrumental, Glitch, Hip-Hop, Chiptune)
Hit+Run proudly presents the 12th release in their mercurial mix cd series with "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" by LA producer/rapper JONWAYNE. Hosted by Kyle, this fifty-minute tribute to Stella is explicit proof to everyone who said it couldn't be done. The momentous mix is comprised of unreleased beats and songs/oddities by Flying Lotus, Samiyam, Low Limit, Dibiase, Ta'rach, Mndsgn, Devonwho, Tuxedo Kamen, Culprit and Zeroh, classics by Busta Rhymes and Squarepusher, plus a dozen exclusive JONWAYNE tracks. Its an awesome time, hopefully she remembers the little people when she gets huge! Last March to critical praise, JONWAYNE released his debut instrumental album "Bowser" on Alpha Pup, "a virtual dream world emerged onto a monstrous landscape of demented beats and deft harmonies." He has performed at Low End Theory in Highland Park, as well as special events around Los Angeles for Hit+Run, Friends of Friends, Hipsters Heart Hip Hop and the We Did It Collective. With his lyrical alter-ego, JONWAYNE has recently collaborated with producers Flying Lotus, Kutmah, Dibiase (Dark Horsemen) and is currently finishing up his full-length debut rap album to be released in late 2011. Good work Stella, we never thought it would happen... Running Time: 50:58
