José Parra

*1907 US

José Parra, poet and chronicler. He was born in Chivacoa on March 7, 1907. He received international recognition in 1947 with the poem Tierra de gigantes andariegos; He received the First Prize of the Latin American Contest of Romances Arca del Sur, held in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1955. Among his most outstanding works is Una Zona en el Tiempo (A Zone in Time), which tells the history of the Bruzual municipality of the Yaracuy state. He died in 1993.
