Czech-Canadian writer, translator, lyricist, in his youth also amateur jazz saxophonist. Born 27 September 1924 in Náchod (former Czechoslovakia), died 3 January 2012 in Toronto, Canada. Husband of Zdena Salivarová since 1958, with whom he exiled to Canada in 1969. Cofounder of 68 Publishers.
