A.k.a. Real Universal
The band really took off when Simon joined a fledgling version of the band formed by John, Gary and Andy Croft. When Andy left, Simon began writing the songs and developed the sound of the band (a kind of Ride-meets-Teenage Fanclub affair). This line-up recorded the material for the Noisebox releases in 1994/1995. In 1996, Gary left and was replaced by Pete for a few gigs and some aborted demos were recorded. Mark joined on lead guitar and the band had transformed themselves into Real Universal by the autumn of 1996 after annoying complications with another band called Joyland. Simon Faraday-Drake - vocals/guitar Gary Hall - bass (later replaced by Pete Morgan) John Larkins - drums (later joined by Mark Osbourne - guitars)
