Jozo Penava
(1909, Palež, Kiseljak, BiH - 1986 Sarajevo, BiH)) Croatian songwriter, who immensly contributed to the development of folk songs and Sevdah music in BiH. Jozo Penava was undoubtedly one of the most important and productive Sevdah musician of his time. He worked with many prominent singers of the national tune as Safet Isović, Zehra Deović, Himzo Polovina, Nada Mamula, Beba Selimović, Zora Dubljević and many others. Penava received many national awards. He died in Sarajevo on 17th January 1987.
