Singer of Rock and Alternative
A.k.a. Juan Ramón Rodríguez Carlos Boada
Spanish political activist, writer, singer and lyricist from Barcelona (Catalonia). Founding member of hardcore bands Speereth and Kop (2). He does not consider himself as a musician but as an activist who uses the music as an instrument for political propaganda and communication. In 2001 he was accused by the Spanish Police of helping members of the Basque terrorist group ETA. He maintained —and still does— that this was not true. He fled Spain to Holland, when he was finally located in 2002. He was imprisoned and extradited to Spain, when he served a 5-year prison sentence. He stills claims for his innocence. During this time KOP was on a hiatus, releasing Nostrat in 2007 with Fernando Sapo as a guest vocalist, because Juanra was still in prison when the album was recorded. He was finally released that very year. Since then, he recorded two more albums with the band, and continues his political activism.
