Olympia 28 Octobre 1960 En Concert avec Europe 1 ℗ 1994 RTE © 1994 TREMA Digitally remastered by Digipro France Photos : exclusive rights of PARIS MATCH (Palais de Chaillot, october 3 and 5, and Restaurant Maxim's, october 5) Sincere thanks to Daniel Filipacchi, Claude Acaei, for their generous assistance Many thanks to Kim Lundgreen, Gerald Waters, Fred McFadden, Christian Matzanke and Alain Falasse About the Olympia recording - The concert on this disc, recorded on October 28, 1960 and broadcast by the radio station Europe 1 on the evening of November 3, 1960, is heard here as it was aired. It does not, however, correspond to Judy Garland's complete program of the period, for which there are extant order sheets. The archives tapes found contain neither Garland's traditional overture (the one broadcast and transferred here is no doubt the music used by the orchestra after the intermission to get people back to their seats) nor her dialoguing with the audience as was her habit. Critic of her concerts at the Palais de Chaillot on October 5 and 7 mention songs that are not contained on the Olympia program. Nor did she ever in her career begin a show with "Zing ! Went The Strings Of My Heart". It is probable that the time limitations of the Musicorama program forced the station to cut the master tape, at which time the song order was also altered. Judy Garland gave a second show at the Olympia on October 29.
