Julia Palmer

vc, voc,
Musician of Folk and Rock

Cellist Julia Palmer studied performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She joined rock feminist theatre company The Sadista Sisters and worked with 80s pop band Hollywood Beyond. In ’86 she formed her own band The Dinner Ladies, whom she later left to join Roddie Harris’s Miró, releasing three albums on their own label. Julia continued working as a session cellist for Billy Bragg and Natalie Merchant, and German band The Rainbirds. Between 1989 and 1991 she toured Ireland and Europe with Gavin Friday and The Man Seezer. She returned to be a member of the Friday/Seezer ensemble in 2001 for the Ich Liebe Dich shows in the Tivoli Theatre and the retrospective performance Is That All There Is, in Dublin’s Vicar Street. Julia also worked on Gavin’s contemporary recording of Prokoviev’s Peter and the Wolf, released in 2003.
