Producer
Known for her deep knowledge of a myriad of genres and formats, DJ Kalkutta is a sought after, New York-based turntablist and producer. She has performed on Saturday Night Live, Ellen, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly, America’s Got Talent, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. When not appearing on television, she’s working at New York’s highest-profile nightclubs and venues, including the Metropolitan Museum (where she DJd, among other events, the opening of the museum’s Warhol exhibit), 1Oak, The Boom Boom Room, Mister H, Riff Raff’s and WIP. Kalkutta’s career, however, has taken her well beyond the city. Domestically, she has established strong footholds in Chicago, Washington D.C.,Houston, Portland, Boston and Aspen. From sharing a stage with Shaq on New Year’s Eve at The Viceroy Resort in Anguilla to Sao Paolo’s Carioca Club in Brazil to the after-party for the Youth View Awards in Jamaica, she has an impressive resume of international engagements. All of that is fitting, given Kalkutta’s own “Cinderella story”: Born in Calcutta (Kolkata), India, Kalkutta was surrendered to a Mother Teresa-founded orphanage at just 2 days old. She spent the majority of her infancy there, until she was adopted by an American woman who gave her a chance at a brighter future in the United States. Kalkutta studied at NYU’s Clive Davis Dept. of Recorded Music and the prestigious Berklee Music Conservatory. Since then, she has also shared bills with some of the world’s hottest DJ’s ranging from Questlove and A-Trak to Samantha Ronson and Nick Cannon. A personal visit from Prince during one of her New York City performances as well as multiple events with The Kardashians have landed her mentions in Page Six, US Weekly, OK! Magazine, and InTouch magazines. Her work has also earned her features in The Huffington Post, SPIN and Cosmopolitan. Clubs and events aside, Kalkutta is currently on the concert circuit. Besides opening for artists like Ke$ha, Ludacris, and LMFAO, she recently completed a stadium tour with Karmin (best known for their global hit “Brokenhearted”) for whom she serves as official DJ. From Madison Square Garden to LA’s Nokia Theater, they’ve shared the stage alongside acts like Lady Gaga, David Guetta, Pitbull, and Selena Gomez. Kalkutta’s passion for music is paralleled by her love for fashion, which explains her performances at events for premium designers and brands such as Betsey Johnson, Ted Baker, Diesel, Adidas Originals, and Steve Madden. In addition to her roster of fashion clients, Kalkutta’s ever-expanding list of corporate bookings includes Maserati-Ferrari, Sephora, Grey Goose, Gawker Media, Buzz Media, Red Bull and the Discovery Channel. Production continues to be one of Kalkutta’s top priorities. She recently released a remix of Krewella’s “Alive” on Columbia Records. The song was featured on their “Play Harder” EP, is currently being played at EDM festivals worldwide and peaked at #11 on Beatport’s Electro-House chart. The record was played on Good Morning America during one of Kalkutta’s many appearances on the show. Whether she’s on stage at an arena, behind the decks at a nightclub or performing on a runway or at a private event, Kalkutta remains at home guiding party-goers and influencers through unforgettable experiences.
