South African hip-hop MC/producer, born in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Kanif first appeared on the South African hip-hop scene in '97 on the album "African Werewolf in Japan" by Elektron. He has since produced for some of SA's dopest MC's such as Hymphatic Thabs, Robo, Shorty Skilz, Gin I Grindith, BMP, Jonzi D and Bravestarr to name a few. He has also collaborated with some of SA's greatest jazz musicians such as Herbie Tsoaeli, Sydney Mnisi and Mduduzi Mtshali, as well as international artists such as the UK hip-hop/theatre icon Jonzi D and the U.S./Athens, GA based emcee, Ishues. With his signature smoky breakbeats and atmospheric soundscapes Kanif the JhatMaster creates music free from the conformities imposing on hip-hop culture.
