A.k.a. Hendrik Blaak
Karel Eduard Eykman (born in Rotterdam, 1st of March, 1936) is a writer of books for children and a poet; he also writes song lyrics. One of his alternative names is Hendrik Blaak, a.k.a. H. Blaak. Between 1956 and 1962 he studied theology at the University of Utrecht and later on married the sociologist Pauline Heynsius. Eykman initially worked as a youth preacher, first in Rotterdam and later on in Amsterdam. From 1966 on, he gained nationwide fame with his Bible stories for television. As a member of a writers collective, he collaborated in TV-shows such as De Stratemakeropzeeshow, De Film Van Ome Willem, Het Klokhuis and Sesamstraat. Between 1977 and 1987 he was the editor of the "Blauw Geruite Kiel", the kid section of the "Vrij Nederland" magazine, in which he launched the careers of poets like Remco Ekkers, Ted Van Lieshout and Wiel Kusters.
