Swedish born violinist Karin Hellqvist resides in Berlin and performs internationally as an interpreter of contemporary music. She was educated at The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Universität der Künste in Berlin, The Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and The Royal College of Music in London where she was awarded an Artist Diploma in Performance in 2011. As a young violinist in a generation of musicians engaged in the music of today, she is active in several ensembles - Cikada, Oslo Sinfonietta, neoN and Curious Chamber Players. She dedicates her time to performing and commissioning new works as well as championing the established repertoire by Scandinavian and European composers, as a soloist or chamber musician. Karin performs frequently at major European including Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Sacrum Profanum Krakow, Presences Paris, International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt, Venezia Biennale and Warsaw Autumn. She gratefully acknowledges the support from benefactors as the Dobloug Foundation of Norway, RWE Dea of Norway/Germany, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and the 45 International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt.
