London based oboist from Edinburgh currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music (2013-2017). Katherine began playing the oboe at the age of 14 in Northamptonshire before gaining a place at St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh in 2010 where she studied with Joe Houghton. During her studies in Edinburgh Katherine held principal positions with the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Katherine is now in her third year of the undergraduate program at the Royal Academy of Music where she studies with Christopher Cowie and Jill Crowther. Since joining the Academy in September 2013 she has worked in Academy projects with conductors such as Edward Gardener, Robin Ticciati, Sir Mark Elder and Jane Glover. Katherine also performs extensively outside of the Academy and was a participant in the 2015 London Symphony Orchestra Wind Academy.
