A violinist and violist, born in Sofia, Bulgaria. Died May 19th, 2018 Katia Popov has been the concertmaster of the Sofia Chamber Orchestra, the Academy of Music Chamber Orchestra and the European Symphonic Orchestra (ESO). She has been a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra since 1990. She is also the principal second violinist of Long Beach Symphony and during the summer she performs with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as principal violin and concertmaster. She is the founder of the Lyric Arts Chamber Players and of the California String Quartet together with Andrew Greybill, Vicki Miskolczy and Armen Ksajikian.
