Salim Salam, the proucer of "Last of the Medicine Man" approached Keith Waithe and Michael Ormiston to compose the original music for the BBC series. Keith Waithe is one of the most innovative and exciting talents in the UK today. His musically diverse talents as a composer, arranger, educator, band leader and flautist have put him at the forefront of contemporary jazz. His distinctive compositional skills, African rhythms, Asian fusion systems & Caribbean sounds have received critical acclaim on both a national and international level. He has composed music for television, radio and stage productions, going someway to explain why he has been described as "the poet of the flute."
