Kelv (1979 - 1984) Kelv was an Alternative, Electronica, Art Rock artist from Leicester, United Kingdom. Kelv worked with various musicians in and around Leicester during the late 1970's and early 1980's to record and perform live, most notably with The Lipids, The Attitude and Companionable Ills, as either bass player or on percussion. By the summer of 1981, Kelv embarked on the ambitious project of releasing a solo album Attacking Vessels, where he played all the instruments and produced a vocals style that was "acting" rather than "singing". The original concept was to make three (or even four) albums, using different music styles associated to each story. Each song was based on the concept of gossip given from the various characters portrayed on the record who saw themselves as objective observers, but were in fact part of it. Production had to be strictly amateur and was done on a very tight budget. However, lack of funds caused the series to be abandoned. Fortunately, Attacking Vessels stands well as a single album, in its own rite. The music style was achieved by recording to a strict 'one song a day' approach, 'bedroom band style'. All mistakes created during the recordings were deliberately left in to help support the "live performance" feel.
