A.k.a. Hervé Bataille
If you ask Kenji wich influences that have most marked him as a musician, there is a strong chance he starts to talk about Joy Division, the Clash, the Pixies, My Bloody valentine, or Damon Albarn. So you understand very quickly that young Kenji spent most of his time in Pop rock groups largely inspired by what was happening at that time in Britain and besides the Atlantic Ocean, and that as a guitarist composer basically, there developed a taste for the simple and effective melodies. After a few years, making reviews in the national press, concerts in prestigious places such Le Bateau Ivre (Tours, France), Le Chateau d’eau (Blois, France), nominate for “le Printemps de Bourges”, the chapter live band then closes in the first half of the 2000s. In this context, interest in electronic music could not be done only gradually. He mention two factors among of other may be a little more significant in this evolution. First, Manchester, its groups, the flagship label “Factory Records”, the legendary club “hacienda” and the man behind it, Tony Wilson, who showed they could both take care of cabaret Voltaire or Happy Mondays while delivering his first real back seat to the young Laurent Garnier. Opening rare spirit and left traces from the 90s. And also that day or the bassist of the period arrived in rehearsal with a Moog Prodigy in his suitcase and explaining he would like try some bass lines with several sheets of synthesizers. Since then, things never ceased to grow in this direction and necessarily when envy is relying again feel, Kenji so turned naturally to the home studio, turntables and all under a nickname. Today, Kenji funasaki project is a playlist dj, a solo repertoire, and a directory duo with his hip-hop alter ego Jet Rubber met at the time of the concert. There seems to be no reference to constrain stylist although it can be easily perceive the path of the musician, and is in a sound heavily inspired by vintage synthesizers.
