Kev Bird
of Dance
A.k.a. Kevin Bird Beatfreak KGB Wyseguy
Fresh from rockin’ the Trade stage at the UK’s Love Parade and with 10 years of dance floor experience, KGB aka Kev Bird is currently enjoying his status as one of London’s and the South Coasts most respected DJ’s. Kev first started his DJ career in 1989, blagging a gig at the local night club and even though he didn’t have decks of his own, suffice to say he was a natural so the club kept him on.
Kev’s first real break arrived in 1991 in the form of a successful residency at Madison’s in Bournemouth alongside Paul Gotel. This soon progressed into Paul becoming the main resident at the legendary South Coast ‘Swing’ parties in the midst of the huge ‘rave’ scene in 1992. It was at this time that Kev cut his studio teeth for the Basement Records label, working with names such as The Waxdoctor and Alex Reece.
Over the years Kev has played with all of the ‘premiere league’ DJ’s and has enjoyed a regular show on the London based pirate radio station ‘Green Apple’ alongside the likes of Jack Smooth and Carl Cox and has been interviewed for the BPM programme, Muzik magazine and Mixmag Update where he was nominated as a desirable resident.
Kev has played most of the big clubs around the UK including Ministry Of Sound, Club UK, TimeFlies, The Escape in Wales and Scream at The Warehouse in Plymouth, although there are too many to list all. He has also played at the legendary Trade as part of a Tripoli Trax tour.
Internationally Kev has played in Ibiza, Norway, USA, Germany, Holland, Finland, Ireland, Canada, Malta, South Africa, and on the Miss Moneypennys tour in Beirut!
The awesome Coalesce underground parties in London are Kev’s home from home and have been hailed as “the true kings of the underground” by Mixmag in 1999. KGB is the only remaining DJ from the original line up of Coalesce residents from 1993 and he has been a key factor in drawing people back for 6 years.
Kev’s studio accomplishments are just as impressive and have earned him more recognition from the huge ‘Burning Like Fire’ and other Slate Records releases, remixes for Virgin, Koolworld and Manifesto to today’s home, Tripoli Trax.
Today Kev is busy as part of A&R for the Southeast record label, he currently produces and remixes for Tripoli trax as Floorshow and The KGB and is resident alongside Steve Thomas and DJ Ziad.
KGB plays anything from deep house, twisted disco, bouncy Dutch grooves, percussive funky techno and trance and although he is renowned for his own unique, funky, bouncy melting pot of all styles, mixed in his own distinguished style. According to the Cheeky Little Monkey website KGB is “the ultimate professional DJ” ...And how right they are...
