A.k.a. Hari Shankar Kishore DJ Hvad
Kid Kishore grew up in Albertslunds, a suburb of Copenhagen with a significant number of mostly Muslim visible minorities; an environment rife with gangs, drug dealers, racism, and a lot of music. In 2008, Kid Kishore's music broke in Denmark, specially on the back of a series of riots in youth housing projects, and a track he wrote called Klap Perker; “Klap” referring to a beat drop, and “Perker” alluding to “paki”, or any of the wide variety of racist slurs thrown at him in a Denmark coming messily to grips with where brown people fit within a "progressive" national identity. Kid Kishore was angry. And his music reflects this. Think 5-5000 BPM breakcore, force fed with Punjabi dhol bangers, warped salsa insect repellent, and dubplates that belong in a parallel Jamaican universe where PCP has replaced ganja. Unpredictable, thoughtful, and totally rereflective of Kid Kishore as a person, the personal and political merge here into something that will either make you dance like a lunatic, break every object within a 10m radius, or ideally both while considering why.
