Kirupa is a Sri Lankan carnatic violinist and vocalist, he comes from a family of musicians. He began his musical education with his father, a renowned Sri Lankan violinist, at a young age. Due to the civil war in Sri Lanka, he came to India at the age of 14, where he completed a degree in music, studying under T.K. Govinda Rao and Sankharayer. He has recorded various classical and fusion albums, and has played accompaniment for some of South India’s greatest dancers. He is also an accomplished salsa dancer and has a strong interest in Latin music. Kirupa lives in Auroville, South India.
