As "The history of the neighbor" was composed in the harbor district of Cologne, this was not only the birth of the "Rheinische Tangos". An ensemble emerged between sadness and joy moves: The Tango & Klezmer Quartet. The first Tango musician was subdued, yet spirited, strange and yet strangely familiar, fresh as the foam on a glass of Kölsch, dirty as the waters of the Rhine. They named this music the "Rheinische Tango". The Rhine flushed since his musical flotsam in the Tango compositions of the quartet, which form a special contrast to the contemporary and traditional Argentinean tango repertoire. Even in the klezmer music of the group flow together different currents. Loving is their dealing with the origins of Klezmer music, surprising their musical forays beyond the boundaries of the genre beyond. Archaic replaced with avant-garde, ritual music with Yiddish musical, Tango Klezmer. The Tango & Klezmer Quartet plays with opposites, without dissolving. In its program, the Tango & Klezmer Quartet follows the path of the Jewish traveling musicians of its Eastern European roots of the past centuries up to the "New World". The virtuoso klezmer violin is the main focus of imaginative instrumental arrangements. The songs are inspired by the poetic power of the Yiddish language.
