Kobi Arad is the first musician to ever receive a Doctorate in the field of contemporary improvisation and Third Stream, a musical field coined by Pullitzer Award winner, Gunther Schuller. Kobi Arad might very well be one of the most prominent, prolific and versatile pianists and composers to emerge from Israel in recent years. Having collaborated with many great artists such as Stevie Wonder, Cindy Blackman and Jack DeJohnette, Kobi's soulful style brings together sprinklings of classical modern, jazz and neo-soul. The project 'Kobistyle – Third Stream' presents a wider scope of Arad's musical work. Ranging from solo piano, to duets with Grammy Award Winner, Oran Etkin (Clarinet and Bass Clarinet) and Nori Yakobi (xylophon), to string quintet (played by members of Boston Symphony Orchestra), to soulful songs sung by the special vocalist Nicole Whitehead, towards Kobi Arad Band (trio, piano Bass and Drums) – Kobi Arad's inspired voice and fresh creativity is present in all these genre and media as a unifying thread. This album smphasizes on the creative and exciting aspect of music, regardless of stylistic and cultural boundaries.
