Hip-Hop/Rap and Rock
Koncrete K is an alternative/hip hop band from Baltimore MD, best known for their eclectic sound and their ambitious, high impact live performances. They are a three piece band that fuses live instrumentation with hip hop production, and have been compared to many other acts such as The Beastie Boys and Kottonmouth Kings. With influences ranging from old school and underground hip hop to dance music to arena rock and metal, Koncrete K's music does it's best to defy definition while feeling as familiar to you as your favorite pair of socks. Koncrete K first formed in 2001 as a collaborative project between an un-named rock trio, and The Ill Elements hip hop group. Guitarist Chuck LaMar was looking for a vocalist for his hard rock band and was having little success finding someone who fit. He found the answer to his dilemma in DJ Roc E Wrek, a co-worker at a local used car dealership. Roc E was looking for an alternative to the watered down hip hop being produced by his peers and brought his crew, The Ill Ellements, to jam with Chuck's band. The two groups hit it off immediately, the void of vocalist had not only been filled, but now there were 2 MCs and a DJ on turntables as well. It wasn't long before this new group, now Koncrete K, was pouring all of their creative juices into one pot.
