Koyaanisqatsy was a progressive symphonic metal project from Munich, Germany that existed from 1994 until January 1st, 2001. It was founded by Markus Glanz (guitar, ex Brainstorm, ex Vain Vision) and Stefan Petzoldt (drums, ex Dreamscape (11)) and was completed by Wolfgang Schneider (keyboards, piano) and Michael Scherz (bass). The name of the band „Koyaanisqatsy“ comes from the language of the Hopi-Indians and means as much as „Crazy Life“, “Riot life”, „Out Of Balance“, “A state that has to be changed”. It is also the title of a popular cult documentary film (spelled Koyaanisqatsi). The band remained unsuccessful in search of a singer, so the debut CD "From The Yearning To Burst The Perpetual Circle" was realized as a pure instrumental album in 2000. It remained unreleased until 2007. In December 2000 an unexpected incident occurred, so the band broke up exactly on January 1st, 2001. In March 2005, Koyaanisqatsy reunited as a pure studio project featuring Markus Glanz and Wolfgang Schneider. Full biography at https://www.last.fm/music/Koyaanisqatsy/+wiki
