"Plays Juice Machine" is an homage to the Oregonian husband and wife duo of Roger Smith and Heather Chessman. In keeping with the spirit of their unique oscillator based approach to composing, only fundamental manipulation of basic tones were the source of the material on these tracks. My teenage daughter had the idea of setting a slightly folded piece of paper on an air synth (a kind of optical theremin) so as to sustain the signal without further interaction from her. It worked, so we were able to record this material while she could continue scrolling, Snap Chatting and other wise communicating with the outside world. She would like listeners to know that she credits teenage laziness for the "innovation".
