On this present compact disc, previously in 1988 as Conifer CDCF 168, two newer works by Van de Vate are placed alongside major works by Krzysztof Penderecki. Threnody To the Victims of Hiroshima and Chernobyl represent two composers' responses to catastrophes of global importance. Included with the disc is an 8 page booklet with notes, artist bios, photos, and credits.
