Artist Portrait

Kurt Harland

voc, sampler, *1963 US
Singer / Composer / Songwriter / Producer of Electronic and Dance
A.k.a. Kurt Harland Larson

b. 25 Jan 1963 in Minneapolis, MN, USA. Founding, and for many years, sole member of Information Society. In 2006 InSoc reformed without him, with his blessing. He rejoined InSoc later the next year for some live performances after the release of Synthesizer. As a teenager inspired by Anne McCaffrey and J.R.R. Tolkien, Kurt Harland Larson enjoyed using a made-up surname, Valaquenyar. When he and his friends formed Information Society, they decided to use exotic-sounding names for themselves. Kurt chose to be known as Kurt Valaquen, a name which stuck through 1988. For the album 'Hack' he switched to the alias Kurt Harland Valaquen, and then became just Kurt Harland.
