Cuban jazz pianist, played with several big bands in the 1950s and 1960s. He still is a Egrem recording artist. Director of Son Jazz and other jazz groups. Not to be confused with his son Lázaro Valdés (b.1965) who is also a pianist (and leader of Bamboleo).
