Czech composer, arranger, conductor, also a pianist and flutist. Born 3 April 1929 in Klánovice near Prague (former Czechoslovakia), died 19 May 2011 in Čerčany. Founder and leader of Sonatori Di Praga 1964–1970. In the 1960s founder of the first Czechoslovak studio for electronic music at the Vinohrady Theatre in Prague. His work consists of classical as well as jazz compositions, and of numerous incidental music compositions for theatre and television. He is best remembered as the composer of the “Večerníček” children’s TV programme theme in 1965, which is still in daily use by the Czech TV as of 2012. Note: not to be confused with Slovak poet Ladislav Šimon (1938).
