A.k.a. Melvyn Anthony Lalit Gomes
Melvyn Anthony Lalit Gomes born in a Bengali Christian family endowed with rich musical heritage. His grandfather Late Ustad John Gomes, a well known Sitarist, was a devoted disciple of Late Ustad Enayet Khan the doyen of the sitar exponents. At age five he started learning sitar under the guidance of his father Late Ustad Benjamin Gomes, a disciple of Late Ustad Vilayat Khan and Ustad Imrat Khan. Since 1983 after demise of his father he as been studying under the tutelage of Ustad Imrat Khan. He has been receiving constant guidance from his Guru-brothers, Ustad Nishat Khan, Irshad Khan and Wajahat Khan, sons of the great Ustad Imrat Khan, and keeping the trend of unique Guru-Shishya Parampara for three generations. He regularly performs throughout India and Europe.
