Lander Lenaerts is a jazz dj and writer from Belgium. Originally a hip hop dj under the moniker Blast Kid in his teens, he explored his parents's record collection and got turned onto soul, funk and jazz. During his college years, he hosted Snap Your Fingers, a jazz show on local radio Scorpio, and Soulorama, a regular club night where he and his dj partner Teddy Tendertouch played a mix of funk, soul, latin and african music. At the same time he contributed to Laid Back, an online platform for which he recorded a series of mixes and wrote articles about European jazz, which lead to the publication of his essay 'Džez, Not Jazz - The Birth of Modern Jazz in Czechoslovakia', commissioned by the Czech Arts and Theatre Institute. After having studied his home country's jazz history for over a decade, he recently collaborated with Sdban Records to release the 2CD/2LP 'Let's Get Swinging. Modern Jazz in Belgium 1950-1970.'
